Riverine Conservation Awareness Campaign cum Fish Farmer Training, Dampa Landscape, Mizoram

In collaboration with the Fisheries Department, Government of Mizoram, the Green-Ag project, Dampa Landscape organized a comprehensive training on "Riverine Conservation Awareness Campaign cum Fish Farmer Training" at New W. Phaileng on November 29, 2023. Seventy fish farmers, 18 women and 52 men, from six villages under the Mamit district in the project: West Phaileng, New West Phaileng, Teirei, Khawhnai, Tuirum, and Damparengpui actively participated in the training.
The training was led by Mrs. Lalchhuanawmi Pachuau, Team Leader & NRM Expert at Green-Ag, and commenced with an insightful presentation by Mrs. Lalremsangpuii, the District Fisheries Development Officer (DFDO) in Mamit. The fish farmers were sensitized about the significance of riverine conservation and they were engaged in a constructive discussion about the Awareness Campaign about Riverine Conservation and the Fisheries Act (2022) & Rules (2019).
Ms. Lalsiamliani, Fishery Demonstrator, informed the trainees about the "Common Carp breeding." Simultaneously, Mr. Jimmy Lalbiaktluanga, also a Fishery Demonstrator, shared valuable insights during his lecture on "Pond Construction and Management."
The engaging presentations were complemented by visual aids, enhancing the learning experience for the participants. Following the training sessions, certificates were distributed to participants acknowledging their active involvement and successful completion of the program.
Ms. C. Lalnuntluangi, a Gender Expert, Green-Ag, extended a gracious vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees, organizers, and contributors to the success of the event. The training left an indelible mark on the participating fish farmers, equipping them with valuable knowledge and skills for sustainable riverine conservation and fisheries management.
