The objective of the MoU is to converge the efforts of both institutions to sensitize and increase awareness among the school children for the ecological conservation of biodiversity and the importance of local flora and fauna. The Green Ag project with the support of Samagra Shiksha will engage school children of 59 schools covering primary schools, upper primary schools, secondary schools and higher secondary schools in 38 villages under the Green-Ag Project, in the Lunglei and Mamit Districts. For the implementation, each school will be treated as a Green Eco club, thereby through this MoU the project will work with 59 Green Eco Clubs.
Students in the target landscape will emerge as confident and responsible citizens with a sense of ownership and pride for their traditional and indigenous flora and fauna. These efforts are in synergy with the global environmental benefits of the Green-Ag Project - Biodiversity (BD), Climate Change Mitigation (CCM), Land Degradation (LD) and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM).
Mr. James Lalsiamliana, Director of Agriculture & State Project Director, Green-Ag Project, Mizoram and Mr. Lalhmachhuana, Additional Director, School Education and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Mizoram signed the MoU.
