5th State Level Technical Committee (SLTC) meeting, Green-Ag project, Odisha

The 5th State Level Technical Committee (SLTC) meeting of the Green-Ag project, Odisha was held under the guidance of Sri Pravat Kumar Roul, Chairperson of SLTC and Vice-Chancellor, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on January 18, 2023, in the R.K Hall, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. The SLTC members and Green-Ag P\project representatives from State Project Management Unit (SPMU) and National Project Management Unit (NPMU)/FAO attended the meeting.
At the outset, the Director of Soil Conservation & Watershed Development, Government of Odisha cum State Nodal Officer, Green-Ag project, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the project.
State Technical Coordinator, SPMU presented the agenda points - request for approval of the minutes of the 4th SLTC meeting, report on the 4th SLTC action points, identification of study and policy dialogues, and approval of revised remuneration of SPMU and GLIU staff.
After detailed deliberations on each agenda point, the SLTC approved all of them and recommended the following topics for study and state policy dialogues.
Study topics in the Similipal landscape are “Nutritional analysis & microbial diversity associated with local landraces of selected crops and commodities”, “Impact of conservation agriculture production systems (CAPS) on soil fertility, productivity and economics”, “Incentives for environment-friendly agriculture”, “Alternative energy sources for maintaining a sustainable forest ecosystem”.
State Policy Dialogue topics are “Developing Odisha Holistic Land Utilization Policy in line with the draft National Land Utilization Policy with due consideration to land capability classification and other state-specific concerns”, “Mainstreaming biodiversity into the agriculture sector for increased food and livelihood security”.
The SLT has recommended that the above topics be put before the State Steering Committee (SSC) for approval. The Chairperson suggested all the participants to put collective efforts towards the success of the Green-Ag project in the State of Odisha.
