25 Apr 2022 A three-day, district level inception workshop for the Green-Ag project was held from 25th to 27th April 2022 at the Prayas Conference Hall of Mayurbhanj District, Odisha. The purpose of the workshop was to orient and inform the district officials from different line departments, and the different stakeholders including, Green Landscape Implementation Unit (GLIU) team members and the newly recruited Community Resource Persons (CRPs) about the project. The workshop was inaugurated by the, Shri Prasanta Kumar Swain, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India and was chaired by Shri Vineet Bharadwaj, Collector cum District Magistrate. Shri Bharadwaj is also the Chairman-TSG, Green-Ag Project, Mayurbhanj. The workshop also saw the participation of imminent dignitaries, Mr. Daniel Gustafson, Special representative of the FAO Director-General, Smt. P Anvesha Reddy, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency, Mayurbhanj, Shri R. B Sinha, Senior Policy Adviser and National Project Director, Shri Konda Chavva Reddy, Officer-in-charge FAO, India, Shri Hemanta Kumar Panda, Director, Soil Conservation & Watershed Development Cum State Nodal Officer, Green-Ag Project, Shri Bhabani Sankar Kalo, Project Director, Watersheds cum District Nodal Officer, Green-Ag Project. All together workshop was attended by approximately 174 participants from various departments and agencies [Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Watershed, Horticulture, Mining, Forest Division, Simlipal National Park, Fisheries, local university, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Women and Child Development (W&CD)], farmers, State Project Management Unit (SPMU) and GLIU team and Community Resource Persons (CRPs) along with representatives from NPMU/FAO. Dr. Manoj Kumar Chand, ADA-Cum-DPD, ATMA, Baripada delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the Inaugural session. During the three days of the workshop, participants were given an overview of the project and its implementation architecture, followed by detailed presentations on technical concepts such as, Landscape approach and Collaborative Planning, Landscape Assessment, Livestock Management, Sustainable Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Stakeholder analysis, Communication strategy, Community engagement and VIC, MIS and Online Accounting, Capacity Enhancement. The second day of the workshop included participation of farmers from the landscape. The farmers were informed about the project and proposed interventions to be undertaken. The farmer’s inputs were also taken on the project’s intervention.
